Sophie Montgomery

When did you start with WoS, What was your job and where did you join from?
I started working for World of Sweets in October 2019, my position was Store Manager of the Liverpool store. Previously I had worked for Booker, and Aldi in various management roles.

What is your current job and what does your job entail?
My current role is Hancocks Cash and Carry Support Manager. I work alongside the Area Manager team managing the 14 cash and carry stores. I mainly keep all operational tasks on target, monitoring and reviewing the processes in store and ensuring customers are at the heart of what we do.

What part of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy working with various head office departments and ensuring the stores are keeping on track. The best part of working for WOS is the work / life balance and that you are not a number on the payroll.

What’s the best thing about working at World of Sweets?
Genuinely I have worked at other businesses where I didn’t make a difference, here over the almost 5 years I can say I have been allowed to make a difference to the stores and their performance. It gives me job satisfaction to know an idea I have come up with or worked with another team on.

Tell us about your progression whilst working at WOS
I started as a store manager, and during a restructure in 2020 I was promoted to an area manager role that I was in for around 2 years. In 2022 I changed role again to support nationally with store operations, working in the same team but with a different objective.

Whilst I have worked for WOS they have also supported me with my continuous learning, I am currently completing a degree apprenticeship with Arden University. I feel the company supporting me in this way is an investment in my future with the company.
